It is our fundamental belief that great wines come from great vineyards. The quality that each vintage yields is a culmination of lessons learned and new challenges faced. With us each year, a vineyard that matures and elevates its demand to be taken seriously, and a resulting wine to be enjoyed with great fervor. Introducing, Greppicaia 2019. A new addition to yet another of Bolgheri’s memorable vintages.
The 2019 vintage was characterized by a very long ripening window void of extremes. A dry summer, broken by late rains, carried our grapes through to ripeness. The result is a firmly tannic wine suitable for the long haul. A generous 18 months in 80% new French oak was applied to complement the abundant phenolic composition. Layering oak with our fruit’s primary character helps us to achieve Greppicaia’s signature textural elegance. Treatments to the wine are minimized, except for seasonal barrel rackings and minimum effective sulfur added before bottling and aging 6-months to release.
No matter the vintage, balance is key, and our two lakes are there to moderate the extremes. This eases our most important decisions, bringing longevity both in your glass and to the future Superiores made from the I Greppi Estate.
